The witch's house WIP 2 - Ink

And here there is the second step: I re-drawed the illustration with black ink using a bic pen and trying to obtain thicker lines on the objects in the foreground and thinner ones in the backgroud so that the illustration has more depht.

Next step the final one: colour!

  1. Just a bic pen? Pardon my ignorance but I always thought that some fancy ink pen was involved. Shows you how little I know. =)

    1. well, many illustrators use brush and indian-ink or ink pen as you're suggesting, but someone uses a simple bic pen: I like it very much because it's almost like a pencil but it's still ink. Basically you can use whatever gives you a good result ;)

    2. Is there any particular size (of bic pen) that is most suitable for inking purposes?

    3. the best thing, if you are using ink pens, is to use different pens: for example a 0.8 for the foreground elements then a 0.6, then a 0.4 and a 0.1 for the background elements.
About bic pen, in Italy we have only one size, so I have to use that to ink the whole picture.
