Do the time warp

Here there is the "Do the time warp" challenge. I've been planning to draw it for a long time and finally I did it. So here there are my differtent selves from different years

Cernonnus

In time of Midsummer I made an illustration about Cernonnus: the horned god of Celtic mythology. Cernonnus is the god of fertility, animals, wealth and underworld.

"Vincenzo" the human warrior

Actually, the idea was to call him Breogàn, since I was inspired by the ancient Celtic warriors and Breogàn was the name of the Celic warrior who, according to a legend, was the founder of Galicia (that is where I'm living in this moment), but my better-half (a true Galician man) named him 'Vincenzo'. When I asked why he replied to me: "Ma perché vince sempre!" that is the Italian for: "Of course because he always wins!". Yes, the Italian name "Vincenzo" sounds a lot like the verb "vincere" that means "to win".

At that point, with a motive explaned in my own native language... how could I help choosing this name?

A small favour

At the end of last year I was hosted ad a guest in a fantastic sci-fi graphic novel about time travels and adventures and all those cool stuff written by John Grimes and Cal Palmquist. Now it's finally out. MerMay 11 Steampunk Periophthalmus argentilineatus

Periophthalmus argentilineatus is a little fish a.k.a mudskipper because of its habit of go out the water and spend some time in the mud. For this peculiar fish I imagined a steampunk mermaid and drawed it in crayons, pantone, and coffee spreaded by a make-up brush since in my new home I didn't brought my watercolour brushes at the moment.

Higher Ground

The day after, I'm definitely still in Eurovision Songs Contest hangover. I loved particularly Denmark's song, performed by Rasmussen (but hey: Austria, Italy, Hungary and Moldova you're in my heart too), and I couldn't help drawing a quick viking themed sketch.

Contrary to whatever is wise for a person with a handful of deadlines getting closer, I decided to take part to MerMay 2018.
Of course I'm a bit late, but I'm forcing myself to recoup the time lost, even if, at the moment, I just have 4 sketch out of 8 that should be today.
Since I was in need of a theme to get inspiration, I decided that to me this one is the 'strange fishes' mermaids month too.
At the end of the month I think I'll choose 12 of them to deisgn as proper illustrations.

I'm trying to add some new arts at my portfolio for kids and, in the meanwhile, to improve my collage style, so here there is a sort of re-draw (more properly a reinterpretation) of a very old illustration I made back in 2011 (you can see it here).

As you can guess from the title of the post, the idea is a tribute to a Beatles' song.

Maruxaina is a blond haired mermaid who, according to Galician legends, uses to live in the Xan Vello cave in the Farallóns islands, alluring mariners with her beauty and her voice. 

Since it's being a while I'm planning an illustration dedicated to her, it's time for me to become a bit more familiar with merimaids' anatomy. So here there is a preparatory doodle that probably will be cleaned and coloured while I make my mind on how exactly I want to picture this blond fish-lady

New baby is coming

Something is boiling in the pot. The current time is busy: I'm working for the very new publisher SouthEast Comics (my issue of the superhero series Alfa will be out more or less about next Christmas), and doing some colour art for another steampunk project I'll tell you something about in the future, and waiting news about an old project to come to life... but there is no rest for the wicked and so here I'm with a personal solo project. 

I'm still at the very beginning, but something is coming out and I can't help to share the work in progress of a panel in the page 2 of the dossier.

Heavenblast: Stamina

In a couple of days the new album of the metal band Heavenblast will finally be out. 

The artwork of the cover is the result of the cooperation with the amazing graphicartist/photografer/director Alberto Di Muzio who did basically everything except of the pencil drawing you can see in the pic.

Magician in colour

It's been a while since I coloured. While working on a project that will be published more or less around next Christmas I took some moments for me and coloured one of the sketch I made for the latest Inktober.
When I created it I was thinking about a specific character by the genious of Terry Pratchett (we miss you, master!). Can anyone guess to whom?

Photographer for a day

Some times ago I had the opportunity of play a bit with a camera with Dark Embrace musicians as models during the shooting of their upcoming video.

Mind, I'm not a professional photographer, but I did enjoy a lot to pretend to be that for a day. I did the pics and the post-production but of course the logo you see on them is not designed by me.
